ALERT: MASS ANTI-WAR MOBILIZATION IN SAN FRANCISCO MOVED TO SUNDAY, FEB. 16

Please help us stop the war against Iraq! The next major anti-war mobilizations are happening around the world on the weekend of Feb. 15 & 16. We hope to get millions of people into the streets to say no to war!

The San Francisco march and rally, which had been planned for Feb. 15, has been changed to Feb. 16. The new information is below. We regret that we had to change the date, but the Chinese New Year's Parade --which is expecting more than half a million people--was also scheduled for Feb. 15. Out of
respect for the Chinese community, we changed the protest to the following day.

Please help us spread the word about the date change. We're hoping that the media coverage of the Feb. 15 protests will help us build for Feb. 16 in San Francisco. Let's get out even more people on Feb. 15 than we did on Jan. 18.

We have the power to stop this war!

UPCOMING ANTI-WAR ACTIVITIES

The Price of Oil is Too High--International Day of Action
Protest for peace at your local gas station. No war on Iraq!

ORGANIZE a demonstration for peace at your local gas station, on February 4th. On that day, hundreds of gas stations across the country and around the world will be targeted as we send a clear message that access to oil is not worth war.

Leafleting, vigils, street theater, and other forms of nonviolent educational direct action are all encouraged. Our intent is to communicate that clean energy alternatives to oil exist, and that they can increase our
security and give us true energy independence.

The United States is the wealthiest nation in the
world, why can’t it provide all its students and
equitable and quality education?

In Fiscal Year 2003 federal spending for military
will be double the total of local, state and federal
education spending; Communities of color are more
likely to die in war: While Black people represent
10% of the U.S. population, they represent 20% of the
U.S. military

Information

The total number of inmates in local, state and
federal prisons has quadrupled in the past 20 years to
more than two million. Communities of color are often
targeted: One of every four African-Americans between
the ages of 20 and 29 is in jail, prison, or on
probation or parole; In California children of color
are 6.2 times more likely that white youth to be
charged with crimes

"When Hitler attacked the Jews I was not a Jew, therefore I was not concerned. And when Hitler attacked the Catholics, I was not a Catholic, and therefore, I was not concerned. And when Hitler attacked the unions and the industrialists, I was not a member of the unions and I was not concerned. Then Hitler attacked me and the Protestant church — and there was nobody left to be concerned." Pastor Niemöller, October 14, 1968
